ABOUT

Las Gardenias is a Mexican restaurant influenced by the cuisine from the area in and around Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Owner Patricia Barrera-Kerhin hails from Guadalajara and has worked in service industry for the last 20 years in Milwaukee.

Why Gardenias? Simply put, they are a favorite flower of Patricia's and her mother and grandmother raised them when she was growing up. They are a reminder of her past and the people she loves who remain in her home cities of Guadalajara and Cuquio.

We believe strongly in the connection that food can have to memories, new and old. This is why our approach to cuisine and service and ambiance is guided by the idea of APAPACHO. Apapacho is a word from Nahuatl, an Uto-Aztecan language indigenous to Mexico that predates Spanish in the region. Apapacho means "an embrace from the soul", and that feeling is what we hope to recreate with our food and service.

We hope that you truly enjoy your experience with us, and we look forward to seeing you again very soon!
